Job Advertisement for General Manager of Hidden Creek Golf Club

Hidden Creek Golf Club, an upscale private-for-profit golf club, located along the Jersey shore in Egg Harbor Township, NJ is seeking a General Manager to oversee all club operations. Hidden Creek, designed by the renowned tandem of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, has been recognized by various industry experts as one of the nation's best clubs, including Golfweek's "America's Best Top 100 Modern Golf Courses in the U.S.". The club was developed and is owned by Ole Hansen and Sons, Inc. of Cologne, NJ and opened in 2002. The commitment to excellence extends well beyond the course architecture and conditioning or the beautifully appointed Clubhouse and Lodge facilities. The personal nature of the Club shines through our customer service team who are dedicated to providing memorable and enjoyable experiences with each and every visit. The 18 hole championship golf course is situated on 750 pristine acres of wooded, rolling terrain and is complemented by a double ended world class practice range and short game practice area. In addition to the golf, the club features a 20,000 square foot clubhouse which houses a full service golf shop, grill and dining rooms, kitchen, locker rooms, health club and administrative offices. There is also an 8 bedroom lodge on property for the enjoyment of the members and their guests.

This is a year round position and reports to the Corporate President. The supervisory and administrative staff reporting to the GM will include but not be limited to the following: Director of Golf, Membership Coordinator, Membership Sales/Marketing Director, Accounting, F&B Director, Head Chef, Greens Superintendent and Locker Room Manager.

The General Manager will oversee and manage the club operations, providing necessary leadership and guidance to all departments.  The position will promote a “Culture of Excellence” in keeping with the long range vision of the corporation.  The scope of responsibility will include supervision of all facets of the business including the following core components:

  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills
  • Membership Relations and Marketing
  • Facilities Management

The backbone of the experience at Hidden Creek Golf Club will be the level of customer service received by the members and their guests. Candidate should possess strong skills in leadership, business management, interpersonal relationships, customer service and relations, marketing and communication to advance the reputation of Hidden Creek as the premier golf club experience in Southern New Jersey.

General Manager - Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversight and bottom line responsibility of all club operations including golf, food and beverage, course maintenance, lodging, 
    marketing,
    member retention and relations and club administration. Prior experience managing a full service private golf facility
    is preferred.
  • Monitor the performance of all daily operations assuring all departments are keeping with the highest standards.  This would include employee moral, communication and a functional organizational structure where all players in the team know their responsibilities and who to report to.
  •  Develops, maintains and disseminates a basic management and operational philosophy to guide all club personnel toward optimal operating results, employee morale and member satisfaction.
  • Coordinates the development of the club’s long-range and annual (business) plans.
  • With a proven marketing and member relations background, coordinates and implements the marketing, member relations and retention programs to promote the club’s services and facilities to potential and present members, including newsletters and other external communications. Delivers and promotes prompt, friendly service to all members and their guests, making them feel welcomed and part of the club family.
  • Coordinates and serves as member of appropriate club committees such as Advisory Board and Golf Committees.
  • Oversee and work with department heads to supervise staffing, conducting team meetings as required so that the goals and objectives of the club are achieved at the highest levels of quality and customer service.
Requirements

  • 5 years minimum experience as a General Manager in hospitality or golf-related facility.

  • Four year college degree.

Compensation and Benefits: Compensation will include a salary commensurate with the position and prior experience plus the potential for a bonus based on predetermined goals.
